Dropbox for iPhone and iPad adds comments, will soon allow creation of Office files

Dropbox has a new update rolling out today for the iPhone and iPad that adds some new features. A future update will allow users to create Microsoft Office files from within the app.

The Dropbox 3.9 update lets users add comments to files on the iPhone and iPad, which it added to the web version in late April, along with some other new features. Here's what's new in today's update:

Comment directly on your files, and bring others into the discussion with @mentions!

New Recents tab gives you an up-to-date look at all your recent activity

1Password login extension support to create or access a 1Password vault

Behind the scenes changes to make the app more reliable

However, it's what's coming up in the near future that will be of major interest to Dropbox users who also use Office files extensively. Here's what the company has planned:

In the next few weeks we'll be adding the ability to create Microsoft Office docs right from the Dropbox iPhone and iPad apps, so you won't have to wait until you're at your computer to start a project or write down notes. The Word, Excel, or Powerpoint file you create will be saved into whatever Dropbox folder you were in when you tapped 'Create document,' so you can access it on any of your other devices or on the web.

This new feature should be a big help for people who just want to start creating files immediately and have them stored on Dropbox.

Free - Download now[/url]

Source: Dropbox
