Apple reportedly removes Monster from licensed accessories program following lawsuit against Beats

<div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p class="intro">Apple may have removed Monster from its official MFi accessories program, under which the company made licensed accessories for Apple devices.</p> <p>Monster, the company behind a number of audio hardware accessories, as well as the original hardware partner for Beats headphones, is saying that they have been removed from Apple's MFi program. Under the program, companies can create officially licensed accessories for Apple's iPhones, iPads, and more.</p> <p>According to The Wall Street Journal, the agreement was terminated due to the company's lawsuit against Beats' founders:</p>

<p>Monster's general counsel David Tognotti said Noreen Krall, Apple's chief litigation counsel, told him that their agreement was being terminated, effective May 5, because the relationship between the two companies is no longer "mutually beneficial" in the wake of Monster's lawsuit. According to Mr. Tognotti, Ms. Krall said the suit would "destroy the working relationship" between Apple and Monster.</p>

<p>Monster's lawsuit alleges that Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine did not properly acknowledge Monster's contribution to the designing the original Beats headphones. The company can reportedly continue to sell licensed accessories through September, thought they must immediately discontinue development of new licensed products.
