CBS CEO says Apple streaming deal still in the works

Les Moonves, President and CEO of the CBS Corporation, recentely sat down for an interview in which he revealed that CBS has indeed had discussions with Apple about a potential streaming service. Apple has long been rumored to be working on a TV service, which was said to have originally been slated to debut alongside the new Apple TV. Now Moonves that Apple is still in negotiations with the players necessary to get such a service off the ground.

From Bloomberg:

"Apple is having conversations with everyone about doing their own streaming services," Moonves said in an interview Wednesday on Bloomberg TV. "We have had those conversations, as have the other networks. Do I think something will happen? Probably, but I do not know when."

Previous reports placed the launch of Apple's streaming service later this year or early in 2016, and if the company is still in negotiations, it's highly unlikely we'll see a launch until next year. Apple is said to be placing importance on gaining local broadcast content, in addition to nationally-aired shows, which would make Apple's service a one-stop destination in a way that most other, similar services are not.

Apple is also said to be planning a price point between $20 and $40 per month.

Source: Bloomberg
