Apple expected to release a 4-inch iPhone next year

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities has outlined 2016 expectations in a newly released report, which includes a 4-inch iPhone. According to Kuo, this smartphone will resemble an upgraded iPhone 5s and will launch in the first half of 2016. We tend to pay attention to Kuo simply because his expectations generally aren't too far-fetched.

As well as the device itself, Kuo also notes that this iPhone with a smaller display will also be powered by the A9 processor.

"As there is still demand for a 4-inch iPhone, we believe Apple will upgrade this product line. Because the iPhone 5s is more popular than the iPhone 5c, we think Apple is likely to launch an upgraded iPhone 5s. We predict Apple will mass-produce this new 4-inch iPhone in 1H16 with metal casings. In order to make the current iOS 9 or next-generation iOS 10 run smoothly, Apple may adopt an A9 chip for this new phone."

There's still demand for smartphones with displays that aren't 5-inches (or they simply desire smaller phones), which were left behind when Apple finally bumped up the sizes with the iPhone 6. While a launch of an iPhone with a 4-inch display may please some, Kuo also shed light on what he expects Apple with do with the iPhone 7, namely adding the A10 chip and throwing in 3GB of RAM for the iPhone 7 Plus.

Would you enjoy a 4-inch iPhone again?

Source: MacRumors
