The company revealed some numbers on what it said was its biggest ever holiday for the App Store. Apple said: In the two weeks ending January 3, customers spent over $1.1 billion on apps and in-app purchases, setting back-to-back weekly records for traffic and purchases. January 1, 2016 marked the biggest day in App Store history with customers spending over $144 million. It broke the previous single-day record set just a week earlier on Christmas Day. In addition, Apple revealed that in 2016, people spent over $20 billion on the App Store, buying apps for their iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac products, along with the new Apple TV. Overall, Apple said the App Store has generated close to $40 billion for developers since it launched in 2008, and the company said one-third of that number came just in the last year.
