Apple reportedly granted more time to submit formal response in iPhone unlock caseAccording to a new report, Apple has received an extension in the time it has to reply to a court order to assist the FBI in unlocking an iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino shooters. Apple originally had five days to respond, placing the deadline on Tuesday, February 23. However, the company will now have until Friday, February 26 to formally respond to the FBI's request, TechCrunch reports. The FBI has argued that Apple has "exclusive technical means" to assist it in its efforts to acquire "critical data" locked behind a passcode on the shooter's iPhone 5c. A federal judge then ordered Apple to provide "reasonable technical assistance" in accessing the data in question, including bypassing the iPhone's auto-erase function to allow investigators an unlimited number of guesses at the passcode.
