San Bernardino police backs FBI in phone unlocking case

The police chief of San Bernardino, Jarrod Burguan, has weighed in on Apple's phone decryption case with the FBI. The iPhone 5c at the center of that case was used by one of the suspects in the mass shooting that took place in San Bernardino in December, and Chief Burguan says that the phone should be unlocked. However, he also says that it's unlikely that anything of sustance will be found. From NPR: I'll be honest with you, I think there is a reasonably good chance that there is nothing of any value on the phone. What we are hoping might be on the phone would be potential contacts, that we would obviously want to talk to. Burguan calls unlocking the phone an effort to "leave no stone unturned," saying that leaving the phone alone wouldn't be fair to the victims and their families. Burguan notes that he is personally a fan of Apple products, owning an iPhone and an iPad, and that he doesn't see this as a case of Apple against the FBI.
