The company is apparently dissatisfied with the speed of third-party cloud services. Said to be under the name "Project McQueen," the initiative would see Apple construct more data centers across the world. From VentureBeat: Apple isn't happy with the fact AWS is not able to very quickly load photos and videos onto users' iOS devices, according to VentureBeat's source. Apple has bought land in both China and Hong Kong to build out data centers, the source said. Nearly all of iTunes is currently outsourced to other infrastructure, primarily Azure, according to the source. In addition to concerns over the speed of services, Apple will reportedly need its own infrastructure in place to meet the ever-growing needs of its customers.
