About a year ago Nintendo unveiled the Nintendo Switch app. Upon its release, it was said that we would be able to access all sorts of exciting functionality for the games which were compatible with the app, although it seems as if it's been used as a social platform.
For instance, the first game to utilize the app was Splatoon 2. Through the app, users were able to access Splatnet. Splatnet is essentially a social hub for the game where you can access voice chat features, leaderboards, and invite friends to lobbies.
However, for the most part, the Nintendo Switch online app has remained largely dormant. Updates to the application have been sparse and it seems that there has not been a ton of developers jumping at the chance to integrate app functionality into their games.
