If you can't get your iPhone or iPad to work try recovery mode — here's how

When all else fails, recovery mode lets you restore your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad in iTunes.

If you're iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch has frozen up, become unresponsive, or worst of all, stopped working during a software update, recovery mode might be just what you need to get things going again. It's painful, so it's more of an almost-last resort than a first step. It's not complicated, however, and knowing about recovery mode is important if you ever need it. But if you've used recovery mode on an older iPhone before, and now have a newer iPhone, be aware that things may have changed based on the model of iPhone you're using now.
