Update messed up Hackintosh, help

My sister has a Dell Inspirion 910 Netbook running Snow Leopard, possibly 10.6.3. She accidentally OKed the update and now the computer will not boot. It is giving the error "Hibernate image is too old by 10660898 seconds. Please force wake=y" and then kernal panics. I cannot force wake the computer. I can access the Mac boot menu with Function + F8 but I don't know what to do to try and fix this problem. I am not a Mac user, so I am unfamiliar with the operating system in the first place.
Let me know any other information that would be useful. My sister did not know what version of Snow Leopard she was running before the update, but I think it was 10.6.3.
