Optical Drives spin up periodically when the system is at rest.

My optical drives spin up periodically when the system is at rest (blank screen). I tried to resolve this issue by deselecting Put the hard disks to sleep when possible in Energy Saver, but this did not resolve my issue.
Has anyone found the fix for this issue? If so, would you share the fix with me?
Thank you in advance for your help.
James
