Japan Getting iPad Crazy

Remember the anticipation you had waiting for the UPS carrier to bring you your iPad on that fateful day?  Apparently, Japanese customers are experiencing the same type of iPad euphoria, having begun to line up outside the Ginza Apple Store days in advance, according to TUAW.While new gadgets might not always be the big news in Japan, apparently more than a half-dozen Japanese business and technology periodicals have the iPad on their cover.  Daisuke Wakabayashi of The Wall Street Journal makes mention of a few points leading to the frenzy.First is the Japan's electronics industry in and of itself.  The industry has new and cheaper electronics from companies like Apple and Amazon knocking on the door, plus one has to factor in giant Samsung Electronics Co nearby in South Korea, so naturally Japanese companies are needing to focus their efforts into making current devices better, and less on new concepts, so an innovator like the iPad is making waves.Wakabayashi also notes the euphoria in gaining ownership of a brand name gadget.  Apple products are fun to show off in Japan.  Kazuto Ishimura, a college student told the WSJ, "Japanese products are very capable and powerful, but they don't have the same charm as ones made by Apple."  Ishimura made his comment while waiting in line at the Ginza Apple Store.Image courtesy of Endgadget
