Analyst: iPad Will Outgrow Netbooks
It wasn't too long ago that everyone was trying to figure out exactly what the iPad was. Was it a media device, a large iPod touch, or a netbook replacement? Well, according to one analyst, the latter is the correct answer.According to Katy Huberty, an analyst for Morgan Stanley, the iPad is on track to outsell netbooks in its first year of release. According to Huberty, Apple could move 16 to 18 million iPads in the first year alone. One of the more astounding things Huberty found when adjusting netbook projections is that instead of simply flattening out the netbook market like initially thought, the iPad may have actually shrunk the netbook market by 13% compared to April last year. She believes this to be an abnormal change and the netbook market to be surpassed by tablet devices by 2012.Huberty didn't elaborate on any international iPad tracks, so we'll have to wait and see how international sales affect predictions going forward.via Electronista
