Cyberduck 3.5 Brings Google Docs, Amazon S3 Support
(Image courtesy of Lifehacker.com)Nothing warms the cockles of our hearts more than seeing a great piece of Mac software get even better -- and Cyberduck just did, with its new 3.5 update.Lifehacker is reporting that the Mac-only FTP client Cyberduck has hit a new milestone with a major 3.5 upgrade. Highlights of the new upgrade include the ability to now upload and download to Google Docs, convert images to Google Docs and even a Reduced Redundancy Storage option for those using Amazon S3 storage.Given that Google now allows storage of non-document files in Google Docs, the new features of Cyberduck 3.5 are a welcome convenience. Cyberduck offers a more slick way to get your files up or down from Google Docs, whether or not you want to convert them to the Docs format or just leave them as-is. Better yet, images in the PNG, JPEG and GIF formats can even be converted on the fly to text documents using optical character recognition (OCR).Those features alone will probably be big enough for many to warrant downloading Cyberduck 3.5, but if not the changelog includes a few other tasty morsels such as Slovenian and Romanian localization, custom metadata attributes for S3 and Rackspace Cloud files, the aforementioned Reduced Redundancy Storage option for Amazon S3 and the usual bug fixes.As always, Cyberduck 3.5 is donation-ware; the universal binary application requires Mac OS X 1.05 or later and can be downloaded directly from the developer’s website.
