Apple reportedly buys into chip fab to manufacture its own chips
When Apple started making the iPhone, it used chips designed and manufactured by other companies. After a few years and acquisitions, the company started designing its own chips, but still relied on Samsung’s fabrication facility to produce them. According to a new rumour, Apple’s taking this vertical integration one step further by buying into a silicon fab to produce its own chips.
