Apple Stores Still Struggling To Keep The iPad In Stock

If you're still without iPad, and looking to pluck one from an Apple store, you may be running into trouble finding one according to a survey that was done by J.P. Morgan.  The unit is still continuing to sell out even into Week 2.The survey was of 15 different Apple retail stores, which found that 11 of the stores had the 64 GB version available for buying, and only 4 stores had stock of 16 GB and only 4 had the 32 GB model."While the sample stores represent a small fraction of the 221 U.S.-based Apple stores, we believe the targeted stores offer a decent barometer given their geographic distribution and importance," according to analyst Mark Moskowitz. As an example, some stores that were selling out of all 3 iPad versions when the survey was conducted included the Palo Alto, Greenwich - CT, and Miami Beach stores.  But yet at the same time, stores in Chicago, San Francisco and Kansas City had no inventory issues at all.The word on the street is that Apple has sold over half a million iPads in less than 10 days.  Moskowitz thinks that the adoption of the upcoming 3G iPad models could be a lot lighter than the WiFi ones released this month, due to the price and data plans involved."While the initial excitement could ease, we are surprised by the continued strength in the early stages," Moskowitz continued.  "In addition to the new category entry of the iPad, another positive element is that the product's gross margins are accretive to the corporate model."Apple's online store is still continuing to list times of 5-7 business days for the shipment of new WiFi iPad orders.Upon visiting my own local Apple store this weekend, there were still throngs of people around the iPad display.  For our readers out there, have you ran into trouble finding any iPad units in stock?  Does the excitement still seem to be there?  Feel free to leave comments below!  via AppleInsider
