Google Working On An Android Tablet?

First it was the Nexus One being crafted as a means to take on the iPhone.  Now, if a "leak" from Google head Eric Schmidt is to be believed, the company is also working on an Android version of the tablet to stave off the iPad, according to Electronista.  Schmidt supposedly leaked this to some at a party in Los Angeles. Not many details were mentioned, but it would supposedly be an e-reader as well as a regular computing device.  What is not known is whether Google is planning on taking on developing the product directly, but since it had made an arrangement with HTC on the Nexus One, it will more than likely be collaborating with an already existing hardware designer. It's well known as far as Google's ongoing rumble with Apple, and a possible tablet could endanger Google's hardware partners in start up companies like ICD and Norton Ink.The New York Times also made mention that HP isn't exactly fond of its Windows 7 slate just yet, and is working on making a six-inch Android tablet, being nicknamed the "half pint."  It's also being alleged that the Microsoft Courier could not possibly ship until early 2011.Image courtesy of linuxhub.net
