[/url]

Real estate reports suggest that Apple may be expanding its Boston office, taking up larger office spaces in an office building owned by MIT. Given that Apple's Boston, MA team currently works on Siri, if true the expansion could bring more manpower to bringing more smarts to Apple's digital assistant software.

"On the eve of its next big product announcement, Apple is expanding its super-secret research office in Kendall Square," BetaBoston reported, citing several commercial realtors. "The new office, about 13,000 square feet on one of the building's upper floors, is a major expansion for Apple, which currently has a small team on the building's fifth floor."

News of Apple's expansion of its Siri office comes ahead of Apple's highly anticipated launch of the iPhone 6 and iWatch, of which Siri may make a big presence.

Additionally, Apple has also posted job listings for engineers to work on Siri.

Given that Apple relies on voice partner Nuance to help with Siri's speech-to-text, it's unclear what the expansion will have on the relationship. Earlier this summer, it was rumored that Apple rival Samsung may be in talks to acquire Nuance.

Though Apple's Siri was among the first to get into the digital assistant market, the space is heating up with competition from Google Now on Android, BlackBerry Assist on BlackBerry, and the Cortana on Windows Phone. Apple's expansion of the Siri office could help Siri stay ahead of her rivals.

What do you make of this? What do you hope Siri will be able to do next as Apple evolves her?

Source: BetaBoston
