Apps stuck downloading after restoring from iCloud? Here's the fix!

While iCloud is the most convenient way to restore your data to a new iPhone or iPad, that doesn't mean it's always the most reliable. One of the largest complaints I hear from users is that after restoring, a few apps get stuck installing and can't be deleted or restarted. Luckily, there are a few easy tricks you can perform in order to get your apps back in no time!

1. Tap the app icon

The first thing you should try in order to get stuck apps unstuck is tapping the icon. Sometimes they get paused if you come in and out of wifi and for whatever reason, don't get triggered to start downloading again. If there are multiple apps that are stuck downloading, be sure you tap all the icons as sometimes it's only one app that's holding up all other downloads.

If tapping the app icon doesn't solve anything, proceed to the next step.

2. Perform a hard reboot

Hold down the Home button and Power button on your iPhone or iPad and keep holding them until you see the Apple logo. Once you do, you can let go. When your device boots back up, go ahead and check to see if the apps have started re-downloading. If they still appear to be stuck, continue on.

3. Delete and re-install stuck apps

You own every app you've purchased and can delete and re-download them on demand. Just hold down on the app icon that you'd like to delete until it starts wiggling. Tap the x in the left hand corner in order to delete it. You can then go back into the App Store and either search for the app or find it in the purchased section. Just tap on the cloud icon in order to download it again.

If this doesn't work, or your iPhone or iPad isn't letting you delete apps, continue on.

4. Cancel your iCloud restore

As a last and final option, canceling an iCloud restore has always worked for me. Yes, you'll need to make note of the apps that didn't install correctly and re-download them, but it's a better option than having them stuck. Typically by this point, everything else in your backup should have come down. Just make sure that's actually the case before canceling the restore.

Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.

Tap on iCloud.

Tap on Backup.

Tap on Cancel Restore which replaces the Back Up Now button if a restore is in progress.

Confirm you'd really like to cancel the restore.

<a href='http://www.imore.com/apps-stuck-downloading-after-restoring-icloud-heres-fix' title="Apps stuck downloading after restoring from iCloud? If so, what ones were successful for you? And if you've come across a different tip or trick that works, be sure to let me know that too!
