AT&T and Verizon to connect cross-carrier VoLTE calls by 2015

Currently, the higher quality HD voice benefits of VoLTE calls are limited to customers who are in a VoLTE network and who own a VoLTE compatible device where the calls are made to another customer on the same network.</p>  <p>While the partnership would increase the benefits of HD voice calling to a larger audience, it could also allow unlocked devices to utilize VoLTE calling, according to Reuters.</p>

<p>The technology could also allow customers to purchase devices that are not bound to a particular carrier and can easily be transferred to a different network.</p>
