Apple shows the best iTunes has to offer in 2014

[/url]

Apple has kicked off its best of iTunes from the past 12 months. Apple includes not only games and apps in the lists, but also TV shows, podcasts and music; which is essentially everything the store offers. If you're interested to learn what the top selling apps are, the best of iTunes 2014 is where you'll find out.

On the iPhone, Elevate was crowned the best app of 2014, while Threes! took the title of best game, with Pixelmator and Monument Valley getting best app and game, respectively, on the iPad. Dan Carlin's Hardcore History was awarded the best classic podcast, while Serial took best new podcast. For best TV show, Fargo walked away with the title. Best music artist was Beyoncé, best album was 1989 by Taylor Swift, best song was Fancy by Iggy Azalea, and Sam Smith was named best new artist. Guardians of the Galaxy took best blockbuster.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, we're seeing Clash of Clans and Candy Crush Saga snap up first and second places as top grossing apps for iPhone and iPad respectively. The freemium social games have proven to be popular with mobile owners who have spare time to invest in said titles.

While the freemium titles may have taken the crown when it comes to total amount earned (hello, in-app purchases), it's Heads Up! from Warner Bros. that stole the show when it came to top paid apps for iPhone, with Microsoft's Minecraft taking that spot on the iPad. Other content included in these two lists saw the likes of Sleep Cycle alarm clock, Football Manager Handheld 2014, and Afterlight. Check out other apps and games included this year by firing up the iTunes Store on your iPhone, iPad, Mac or Windows PC.
