Smart Planet: Solar that floats on water
Far Niente Winery in Napa Valley, decided to build a solar array to float on a pond near its cabernet vineyard. The idea was to not use valuable land where they grow their wine grapes. Greg Allen, the manager of the solar project discusses the technology challenges building an electrical system on top of water and running an underground transmission line from the pond to the winery.
