Seagate's 3TB Hard Drive Will Be Compatible with Snow Leopard
Seagate, a leading manufacturer of hard drives for desktop computers, provided Electronista with some juicy tidbits regarding Mac compatibility for its upcoming 3TB Constellation hard drive. The company's in-house tests indicated that the new high-capacity hard drives would indeed work with Snow Leopard machines, right out of the box. Additionally, Mac users will be able to fully utilize the entirety of the drive on their systems without any special software drivers or updates. Seagate added that installing the hard drive in a Mac should be a bit easier than Windows 7 machines, since Macs already have the necessary EFI firmware because they do not use BIOs, a firmware interface included on all PCs. This is great news for professionals and professional hobbyists looking to beef up their Mac Pros with a high capacity hard drive.
