163-year-old Harper's Magazine now available for iOS

Harper's Magazine, the second-oldest magazine in the United States (Scientific American is the oldest), has finally come to the iPhone and iPad. The publication has been notoriously technology shy, but now readers can grab a digital subscription via Apple's Newsstand app.

Experience the digital version of Harper's Magazine, the oldest continuously published general-interest monthly in America. Harper's explores the issues that drive our national conversation, through long-form narrative journalism and essays, and such celebrated features as the Harper's Index.

With its emphasis on fine writing and original thought, Harper's provides readers with a unique perspective on politics, society, the environment, and culture. Many of the essays, fiction, and reporting in the magazine are written by promising new voices, while our archive includes some of the most distinguished names in American letters, among them Annie Dillard, Barbara Ehrenreich, Jonathan Franzen, Mary Gaitskill, and David Foster Wallace. Harper's also features award-winning photography and illustration from the likes of Lena Herzog, Samuel James, and Steve Mumford.

Subscriptions cost US$21.99 per year for 12 monthly issues. Subscribers will also get web access to Harper's entire 163-year archive of past issues. If you don't want to subscribe, you can opt to check out a single issue for the price of $5.99. The app itself is a free download.163-year-old Harper's Magazine now available for iOS originally appeared on TUAW - The Unofficial Apple Weblog on Mon, 18 Nov 2013 11:30:00 EST.  Please see our terms for use of feeds.Source | Permalink | Email this | Comments
